Pretty When You Lie
Chi ha davvero qualcosa da nascondere: chi ammette di essere costruito, o chi giura di essere vero?
C’è un punto in cui la finzione smette di nascondersi e comincia a fare domande. “Pretty When You Lie” nasce lì: una voce che non ha mai preteso di essere reale si rivolge a chi lo pretende sempre — a chi cambia nome, colore, superficie e continua a chiamarlo originalità — e con la leggerezza di un ritornello pop lascia cadere un sospetto che non si scioglie facilmente.
Accusa senza mai dichiararlo: non punta il dito, restituisce lo specchio — chiede cosa distingua davvero l’autenticità dalla sua imitazione più convincente, quando persino l’onestà, a volte, sembra solo un’altra cosa da vendere bene. Il “tu” a cui parla non è mai lo stesso due volte: chi ascolta decide, ogni volta, chi dei due stia davvero mentendo. Ascoltalo una prima volta lasciandoti portare dal ritornello. Poi chiediti chi lo stia davvero cantando — e riascoltalo: potrebbe non sembrarti più la stessa canzone.
Non lo troverai ovunque. Qualcuno ha deciso di potersi arrogare il diritto di giudicare cosa sia vero e cosa no. Noi abbiamo scelto di non chiedere il permesso.
